A Braselton man was charged with having a “lewd image” of an underage child on his home computer, according to authorities.

John Fredrick Kimmerle, 69, was charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Ware said the case started with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which sends referrals to the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children.

From there, it was assigned to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Ware said investigators believe Kimmerle “possessed a lewd image of a minor child” on his home computer in February.

Investigators obtained a warrant for Kimmerle on Tuesday, July 2, and he was arrested the same day.

Kimmerle was booked in to the Hall County Jail.

No attorney information was available for Kimmerle from Magistrate Court officials.
