A woman was found dead Tuesday, March 30, outside a Gainesville apartment complex, police said.

Gainesville Police are investigating the incident in the 600 block of Tate Street as a homicide, according to a post on their social media.

A 911 call was made before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday by someone who had found the body, authorities said.

Gainesville Lt. Kevin Holbrook said they were actively investigating it along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. No information was available on the manner of death, and an autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, March 31. No information was available on any potential suspects.

“We are asking the public to come forward with any information that they may have regarding this case,” Holbrook said. “We will have further updates once we can determine the identity of the victim and cause and/or manner of death.”

Anyone with information can call 911.

Holbrook did not have any further updates on the case Tuesday.
