Suspect breaking into car shoots at Buford homeowner

When a Buford homeowner stepped out of his Mount Water Trail home Saturday morning, a man fired a handgun multiple times toward him and his house before getting away, according to authorities.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators are trying to find the suspect who fired multiple shots during an attempted car break-in.

The homeowner received an alert from his security system about someone outside of his home before 4 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.

Investigators believe a man had tried to get into the homeowner’s car.

“When the victim shined a flashlight on him, the suspect began firing a handgun toward the victim who had stepped outside of the home.  The suspect continued firing gunshots, striking the house several times, as he retreated to a dark-colored passenger car that left the area,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in an email.

Booth said the number of shots and bullet holes are still under investigation.

No one in the house was injured.
