Flames in a burn barrel spread to surrounding cars and a garage Tuesday morning at a Gainesville business, according to authorities.

Hall County Fire Services sent units after 2 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, to Moreno’s Auto Care on Fredrick Street, where the firefighters saw a 1,000-square-foot garage and multiple cars outside of the structure on fire.

No injuries were reported, and firefighters extinguished the flames within 30 minutes.

Hall County Fire Services spokesman Zach Brackett said there was an estimated $100,000 in damage, and nine cars were damaged in the fire.

“The Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the cause of the fire to be a burn barrel that was utilized yesterday and thought to be out prior to (the) close of business. Video evidence shows the fire in the burn barrel reigniting and then spreading to surrounding vehicles before spreading to the structure itself,” Brackett wrote in an email.
