A Jefferson man allegedly seen nude at Lake Lanier campgrounds is accused of attempting to hurt two deputies trying to detain him, according to authorities.

Jeffery Lynn Everett, 52, is charged with two counts of felony obstruction and public indecency from an alleged incident Friday at Lanier Islands. He was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Ware said Everett was “nude at the campground exercising” near other patrons.

“He refused to leave several hours after having been asked to do so by (Lanier Islands) personnel,” Ware wrote in a news release.

Everett then allegedly gave responding deputies a fake name.

“Everett attempted to strike a deputy before running into the lake and refusing to come out of the water,” Ware wrote.

Ware said the Jefferson man also allegedly attempted to hurt another deputy that was also in the water trying to arrest him.

Everett also faces four counts of misdemeanor obstruction, criminal trespass and false information to an officer.
