A man is accused of breaking two doors and two windows early Sunday morning to get into the Gainesville Police Department, according to authorities.

Samuel Espejel-Sanchez, 32, is accused of climbing over a fence and breaking windows and doors to get inside, causing hundreds of dollars in damage, police said.

Officers inside the building around 3:30 a.m. Sunday heard “glass shattering and noises” from a secured area of the Queen City Parkway headquarters, police said.

“The subject was not in the right state of mind,” police said in a social media post. “He appeared to be hallucinating. He advised that people were after him.”

Police charged Espejel-Sanchez with interfering with government property, false report of a crime, second-degree burglary and being drunk on the streets.

He was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains.
