Georgia Department of Natural Resources officials identified a Maryland man killed in a boating incident Sunday evening on Lake Lanier.

Arie Elek, 34, of Rockville, Md., was reportedly tubing behind a boat after 7 p.m. Sunday in the Bald Ridge Creek area of Lake Lanier, according to DNR officials.

DNR public affairs officer Mark McKinnon said the Critical Incident Reconstruction Team will likely take six weeks to investigate the incident.

“Currently no charges have been filed, but that could change as the investigation progresses,” McKinnon wrote in a news release.

No further details were released by law enforcement.
