Before leaving the East Hall home they're accused of burglarizing Wednesday morning, a Gainesville couple decided to take a nap, authorities said.

A family member of the property owner found a suspicious vehicle at the vacant home in the 2500 block of Miller Drive.

"There's still furnishings and belongings in there that is family property, and he was just checking on it," said Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks with the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies responded about 9 a.m. they discovered Kenneth Dwayne Lee, 33, and April Lynn Morris, 38, sleeping on a bed in a back bedroom, Wilbanks said.

"Items from the home had been staged near the doorway, apparently in preparation to be stolen as they exited," he said.

Wilbanks said this is the first incident he's heard of in which suspects were found sleeping during a burglary.

"I can't recall a case where our deputies actually found somebody asleep," he said. "We do occasionally have a case where ... the owner will report they went through the refrigerator and ate some food or drank some drinks."

Both suspects were charged with burglary and are being held in the Hall County Jail until their first court appearance.
