Public safety officials were busy while ice and snow gripped the area this week.

Hall County 911 took 1,791 calls for service to law enforcement and 201 calls for the fire department and emergency medical services between Wednesday and Thursday.

Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks previously told The Times of almost 200 crashes during the icy weather Wednesday. Hall County 911 said the total calls to law enforcement for motor vehicle accidents was 198, and 27 calls came to the fire department and EMS.

As some roads still had icy patches, Hall County Schools delayed opening by two hours Friday as a precaution.

Information on specific Gainesville call volume was not available.
