Four people were charged Wednesday with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and other crimes after drugs worth about $4,000 were seized during an investigation, authorities said. Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad agents seized approximately seven ounces of marijuana, about five grams of heroin, 44 tablets of alprazolam, an anti-anxiety drug, some imitation alprazolam and crack cocaine, four firearms, digital scales, packaging materials and more than $6,000 in cash during a search at 1251 Vine St. in Gainesville, said Lt. Scott Ware, the squad’s commander. Martin Edwin Pittman, 40, of Gainesville was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana, possession of alprazolam with intent to distribute, four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and during the commission of a felony, drugs out of the original container, possession of imitation controlled substance with intent to distribute and trafficking heroin.
