Three people, including an 18-month-old girl, were injured in a wreck just before 4 p.m. Friday at Poplar Springs and Weaver roads in South Hall County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Sgt. G.R. Harper, who worked the scene, said Janet Penaloza, 22, from Flowery Branch, and her child were riding in a blue Nissan that crossed the center line and hit a white Toyota Highlander head-on on Poplar Springs east of Weaver.
The driver of the Toyota was Doris Elizabeth Martin, 63, of Talmo.
The child, Aaliyah Penaloza, 18 months, was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite with a head injury and “was in bad shape last I heard,” Harper said.
Penaloza and Martin were taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
“It’s still under investigation so hopefully the child will be fine, but it didn’t look very good,” Harper said.
