A pair of wrecks about a mile apart critically injured one and closed a portion of Interstate 985 South for a brief time Sunday afternoon.
A Honda CR-V was stopped in traffic near mile marker 10 because of a wreck ahead when a Lincoln car, which the Georgia State Patrol said was following too closely, struck the back of the CR-V. The CR-V traveled off the left shoulder of the road, striking a cable barrier. The Lincoln traveled off the right shoulder and struck a tree.
The driver of the Lincoln, Alejandro Ramirez, 30, was critically injured and in fair condition Monday morning. Two juveniles in the other vehicle had minor injuries, according to Hall County Fire Services Capt. Zachary Brackett.
Ramirez was charged with following too closely.
No one was transported for injuries in the first wreck.
