Nearly $20,000 in landscaping equipment and vehicles were stolen this week from the Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center on Calvary Church Road in Gainesville.

According to a Gainesville Police report, the burglary happened between 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19. Police noted forced entry at the maintenance shop and that the door-locking mechanisms were damaged.

Facility coordinator Robert Dwyre said the event coordinator arrived Thursday morning and found the maintenance shed was open.

“Our weed-eaters and a bunch of different tools were missing,” Dwyre said.

The report lists $19,179 in stolen equipment, not including the value of a 1981 Chevrolet C/K 30 truck. The items range from a $20 gas can to an $8,000 utility vehicle.

Other items include a $7,500 lawn mower, trimmers, a chain saw, a backpack blower and other landscaping equipment.

Dwyre said he believed the suspects may have entered the agricultural center through the side gate.
