GAINESVILLE — A Hall County school system bus was involved in a wreck on Gillsville Highway at Holly Springs Road in East Hall at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

No students were on the bus at the time, and the driver of bus 2711 was not injured other than suffering some pain in her knee, said Gordon Higgins, school system spokesman.

The driver and the passenger of the other vehicle, a husband and wife from Jackson County, were injured. The woman, who was driving, was flown to an Atlanta hospital, and the man was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Higgins said.

The bus driver, who had completed routes in East Hall, was driving down Gillsville Highway near Tadmore Elementary School.

The other car’s driver pulled in front of the bus while trying to turn left from Holly Springs onto Gillsville Highway, Higgins said.

The Georgia State Patrol, which is investigating the wreck, "concluded that the (bus) driver was not at fault in the accident," he added.

No further information, including the victims’ names, was available from the state patrol Wednesday.
