Marsha Stanley and Joseph Piper

Miss Marsha Ann Stanley and Mr. Joseph Milton Piper were united in marriage at 2 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Scroggs in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Dexter Stanley of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William E. Piper of Gainesville.

The Rev. Delma Simmons performed the ceremony. Vocalist Mr. Loren Funk presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s friend Ms. Kimberly Sims Herrick of Lula was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friends Miss Carla N. Cornett and Ms. Amy Cargile Tanner and the groom’s sister-in-law Mrs. Gina Patterson Piper, all of Gainesville. The groom’s niece Miss Lauren A. Piper of Gainesville was the junior bridesmaid. The bride’s cousin Miss Bailee M. Stanley of Jefferson was the flower girl.

The groom’s father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brother Mr. Andrew Piper of Gainesville, the groom’s friends Mr. Andrew Whittington of Los Angeles and Mr. Mark Payne of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the bride’s brother Mr. Matthew Stanley of Gainesville. The groom’s nephew Master Luke Piper of Gainesville was the ring bearer.

Mrs. Crevolyn Wiley and Mrs. Emily Wiley Williams were the wedding coordinators. Miss Ashley L. Duffee kept the bride’s book.

The bride carried a six pence that her mother carried on her wedding day and wore her mother’s anniversary band.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at The Elks Club in Gainesville on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Scroggs of Gainesville following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to Maui, Hawaii, the couple reside in Gainesville.
