Melinda Helen Ragan and Michael Lee Barnes Jr. were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 5, 2015, at Center Grove Baptist Church in Pendergrass. The bride is the daughter of Karen Ragan and Randy Ragan of Maysville. The groom is the son of Janny Barnes and Michael Barnes Sr. of Maysville.

The Rev. Charles Jenkins opened with prayer and David Lamb performed the ceremony. Pianist Lynda Kesler and vocalist Becky Kesler Horton presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s sister Carey Elliott of Talmo was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s cousins Amy Brown of Manassa, Va., Kala Evans of Colorado Springs, Colo., Emily McCoy of Gillsville, Haley Sanders of Maysville and Lauren Sanders of Maysville; and the groom’s sisters Jennifer Scobie of Braselton, Mary Barnes of Hoschton and Joy Shadburn of Maysville; and the bride’s friends Jennifer Lilly of Gainesville and Marie Godfrey of Maysville. The bride’s cousins Payton Shirley of Cleveland and Sarah Grace Krokey of Maysville and the bride’s friend Bailee Brewer of Gainesville were the flower girls.

The groom’s son Jacob Barnes of Maysville was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brothers-in-law Jason Scrobie of Braselton and Justin Shadburn of Maysville; the bride’s brother-in-law Richie Elliott of Talmo; the bride’s cousins Burt Sanders of Maysville, Matt McCoy of Gillsville and Luke McCoy of Gillsville; and the bride and groom’s friends Mike Merk of Commerce, Scott McIntyre of Maysville, Steven McIntyre of Murrayville and Joseph Brewer of Talmo. The bride’s nephew Trae Elliott of Talmo was the ring bearer.

Michelle Madden was the wedding coordinator. Terri Tyner and Sheree Pastrick kept the bride and groom’s book.

The bride carried in her bouquet rings of her grandmothers, Louise Cox of Sautee, Joann Ragan of Maysville and the late Helen Ragan; three sixpences from her mother and friends Guy Dean Benson, Scott McIntyre and Steven McIntyre; her mother’s pearl necklace; and the ringbearer’s pillow had lace from the mother of the bride’s dress.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Center Grove Baptist Church in Pendergrass on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception at Jefferson Civic Center in Jefferson following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple reside in Maysville.
