Lauren and Richard Thom

Miss Lauren Elizabeth Beckett and Mr. Richard Wilkin Thom were united in marriage at 6 p.m. July 25, 2009, in Henry Chapel at First Baptist Church of Orlando in Orlando, Fla. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Beckett of Orlando. The groom is the son of Mrs. Ruth Repass Thom of Murrayville and the late Mr. Robert "Gator Bob" Thom.

The Rev. H.J. Owens performed the ceremony. Organist Mrs. Theresa McFadden and vocalist Mr. Kyle Thomas presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride's friend Miss Elizabeth Paul of Lynchburg, Va., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's friends Miss Melissa Troyer of Starke, Fla., Mrs. Jenny Freemeyer of Port Orange, Fla., Mrs. Katie Orman of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Anna Weaver of Starke, Fla. The groom's cousin Miss Libby Grace Garrett of Statham was the flower girl.

The groom's brother Dr. Matthew Robert Thom of St. Louis, Mo., was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's friend 1st Lt. John Turk of Camp Basrah, Iraq, the groom's cousin Mr. Chase Garrett of Statham, the groom's friends Mr. Thomas Peace of Aurora, Neb., and Mr. Aaron Phillips of Claremore, Okla., and the bride's brother Mr. Andrew Beckett of Orlando. The bride's cousin Master Robert Smith of Mentor, Ohio was the ring bearer. Program attendants were Miss Halie Persell, Miss Carrie Persell and Mrs. Emily Gauntt.

Mrs. Kathy Emry was the wedding coordinator. Mrs. Lori Gabriele kept the bride's book.

The groom's mother gave a rehearsal dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy in Orlando on the eve of the wedding.

The bride's parents gave a reception at Metro West Country Club in Orlando following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon to Jamaica, the couple reside in Lynchburg, Va.
