Seaman William Ryan Deaton recently graduated from Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. He was named section leader, graduating in the top 5 percent of his class.

Deaton plans to attend machinists mate apprentice school for three months, then begin his tour of duty in Norfolk, Va.

He is the son of Randy Deaton of Gainesville and Julie Deaton of Gainesville. His grandparents are Royce and Ann Deaton of Gainesville.
