Four Gainesville natives, one Cleveland woman and one Flowery Branch woman were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, one of the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor societies.
Gainesville residents were Shelley Mickels, April Mangum and Leigh Anne Stephens at the University of North Georgia; and Alexa Clay at The University of Mississippi. Jessica Thomas of Cleveland was initiated at University of North Georgia. Rachael Braaten of Flowery Branch entered at University of North Georgia.
Phi Kappa Phi initiates 32,000 students each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership.
