Lakeview Academy’s robotics team won the second place “Champion’s Award” at the 2014 Northeast Georgia First Lego League Qualifier held at Athens Academy.

Lakeview Academy’s robotics team won the second place “Champion’s Award” for embracing gracious professionalism while achieving excellence and innovation in the 2014 Northeast Georgia First Lego League Qualifier at Athens Academy.

The team will advance to the Super Regional competition in January.

The competition involves choosing a topic, creating a solution that improves the learning experience and sharing the solution.

The students’ project included video content explaining a yo-yo-’s relevance to math and physics.  School officials said the students were excited to see their published “Yotopia” app and downloaded it to an iPad to show the project judges as part of their presentation. The app has guides for various levels of players.

The “Yotopia” app can be downloaded from the iTunes store and will soon be available on Google Play.

The team is coached by Ed Myers and Lynn Zottnick.
