Haylie Shea Hatch, 12, has been chosen as a state finalist in the national American Miss Georgia pageant to be held July 8-9 in Atlanta. She is the daughter of Bridget Hatch of Gainesville. Haylie participates in the honor chorus, drama club, 4H and environmental club as well as volunteering at the animal shelter.

Village Nursing Care recently graduated five students from its Certified Nursing Assistants training class.

It is the seventh graduating class since the program started in 2008. Tiffany Bretz of Gainesville, Ashley Lord of Commerce, Tammy Owenby of Gainesville, Linda Dixon of Cumming, and Carla Gee of Hoschton were awarded certificates of completion in preparatory coursework prior to state licensing exams.

Village Nursing Care is a licensed private home care provider in 13 Northeast Georgia counties and is an entity of ACTS Retirement-Life Communities offering a variety of services including personal support services for several Medicaid Waiver programs, in-home personal care, nursing supervision, meal preparation and help with errands.

Girl Scouts who have earned gold, silver and bronze awards were honored at a local ceremony held by the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, Inc. Scouts who earn these awards have completed projects and activities that put the Girl Scout Promise and Law into action.

Gold Award recipients were:
