Dawson County Manager Kevin Tanner was named chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Lanier Technical College Foundation in an election held May 18.

"The college is excited Kevin Tanner has been elected to take over the chairmanship of the Lanier Technical College Foundation in FY12," said Russell Vandiver, president of Lanier Tech. "He has brought energy and vision to the Foundation Board of Trustees in his capacity of vice chair this past year. We know that will continue as he leads this board of 21 business, industry and community leaders as they seek funds and donations to benefit the students of Lanier Tech and support the growth of the college’s mission of workforce development."

The Lanier Technical College Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization designed to accept donations for the express purpose of supporting Lanier Technical College. Donations are used to enhance students’ educational opportunities, help create a competent competitive workforce and support economic development for a seven-county service area in northeast Georgia.

Tanner was also recently elected by his peers as secretary-treasurer of the Georgia Association of County Managers and Administrators. In two years, Tanner will take his place as chairman of the organization establishing his role as a board member for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia.
