Alex Laidlaw was recently honored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County at the annual Christmas meeting and awards ceremony.

Laidlaw received the clubs’ National Medallion for his dedicated service to the clubs, including efforts to raise funds and promote the work of the clubs.

The award is given to board members and volunteers who have rendered unusually devoted service to clubs over a considerable period of time.

Laidlaw has organized and facilitated the Holiday on Lanier Golf Classic for the past 16 years. In that time, the tournament has raised more than $180,000 for the organization. The Classic is a unique event for the Boys & Girls Clubs because it attracts donors not readily accessible by other fundraising initiatives held throughout the year.

In addition to serving on the Advisory Board for the clubs, Laidlaw serves as a member of the Lanier Partners of North Georgia Board, a nonprofit that supports many organizations throughout the region. That nonprofit puts on the Pirates of Lanier Poker Run, which brought in more than $400,000 this year. Laidlaw appealed to the Lanier Partners board in order to bring support to the Boys & Girls Clubs. Because of that dedication, the organization has donated more than $100,000 to the clubs over the past two years.
