2009 North Hall graduate wins Fulbright award

Anna Bower, a 2009 North Hall High School graduate and 2013 graduate of Furman University, has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program Scholarship to Turkey for an English teaching assistantship, the U.S. Department of State and the William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently.

Bower is the daughter of Maria and Tom Bower and the younger sister of Haley and Caroline Bower.

Bower has been placed at Anadolu University in Eskisehir, Turkey. She is one of more than 1,700 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad for the 2013-2014 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Grant recipients are selected based on academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential.

Bower graduated from Furman in May 2013 magna cum laude with a B.A. degree in philosophy. While at Furman, she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, the Student Activities Boards, Women’s Senior Order, Orientation Staff and Chi Omega Sorority.
