Hall, Gainesville schools to hold remote learning day Thursday, as Hurricane Zeta bears down on Gulf Coast
The Gainesville City School System will not hold in-person classes on Thursday, Oct. 29, as Hall County prepares strong winds and heavy rain expected from Hurricane Zeta. Class is still in session but will be hosted virtually, the school system says.

2 area residents graduate from Air Force basic training
Felix A. Paul

Air Force Airman 1st Class Felix A. Paul and Air Force Airman 1st Class Davis Q. Moore graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Paul is the son of Felix A. and Beverly D. Paul of Flowery Branch and a 2013 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood.

Moore is the son of David and Karen Moore of Buford and the brother of Kirklan Moore of Gainesville. He is also the son-in-law of Randi Moore of Gainesville.

The airman graduated with a diploma in 2009 from Mill Creek High School in Hoschton and a bachelor’s degree in 2013 from the Univeristy of South Carolina.

Both airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
