Kenny and Sondra Thompson of Lula announce the engagement of their daughter Megan Katherine Thompson to Robert Douglas Jones, son of Doug and Cindy Jones of Jefferson.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Virginia Watkins of Gainesville, the late Ray Watkins, Ron and Donna Lawson of Lula and Mack and Joan Thompson of St. Simons Island.

She is a 2007 graduate of East Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2011 from Piedmont College in Demorest with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Hubert and Blanche Jones of Toccoa, Keith and Helen Harrison of Gainesville and the late Vickie Harrison.

He is a 2007 graduate of Commerce High School in Commerce. He attended Athens Technical College in Athens. He is employed as a maintenance technician with Park Creek Apartments in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 8, 2011, in Maysville.
