Bob and Peggy Smith of Jesup, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Joy Murray Smith, to Joseph Michael Gardner, son of Judy and Jim Gardner, of Gainesville, Ga. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Althea M. Yates of Jesup; the late Charles A. Yates; and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Stanley Smith Sr. She is a 2006 graduate of Wayne County High School in Jesup, Ga. She graduated in 2010 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor’s of science degree in marketing and distribution. She is employed as an assistant manger in commercial flooring at Spectra Contract Flooring in Atlanta. The groom-elect is the grandson of Jack Leffler; the late Jean Leffler; James E. Gardner Sr.; and the late Margaret Gardner.
