Lisa Short of Demorest and Daniel Short of Cornelia announce the engagement of their daughter Melissa Lynn Short to Raphael Maximillian Mayberry, son of Jimmy and Liliana Mayberry of Braselton.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Patricia Fleming of Clarkesville, Douglas Fleming of Homer and the late James and Louise Short.

She is a 2004 graduate of Habersham Central High School in Mount Airy. She graduated in 2008 from Brenau University in Gainesville with a bachelor's degree in history and political science. She is employed with Longstreet Clinic, P.C., in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Francesco and Agata Iannuzzi and the late Guy and Edna Mayberry.

He is a 2004 graduate of Jackson County Comprehensive High School in Jefferson. He graduated in 2008 from The University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is employed with Regions Bank in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed May 2011, at Saint Michael Catholic Church in Gainesville.
