Dr. and Mrs. Edward Paul Rigel Sr. of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Rebecca Lynne Rigel to Christopher Ross Donald, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Wayne Donald of Blacksburg, Va.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Sherwood Gordon and Aileen Gabriel Sidelinger, Mrs. Sara Rigel of Savannah and the late Edward Rigel.

She is a 1999 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2003 from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., with a bachelor’s degree in biology with a neuroscience concentration and a minor in French. In 2004 she served as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar studying art history in Dijon, France. She is currently pursuing a master’s of divinity from the Divinity School of Duke University in Durham, N.C.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Etha Marie Janey and the late Katherine Donald Linton.

He is a 1996 graduate of Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg. He graduated in 2000 from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., with a bachelor’s degree in history and government. He served for two years with Teach for America in Baton Rouge, La. He received a master’s of divinity degree at Duke Divinity School in Durham, N.C. and is employed as an associate pastor with the Reveille United Methodist Church in Richmond.

The couple plans to wed in June 2008, at Duke Chapel on the campus of Duke University in Durham.
