Pat and Tim Allen of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Amanda Ann Pilcher to Shawn Michael Dobanton, son of Ricardo and Stella Dobanton of Lizella. The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Mike Pilcher.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Charles and Ann Ward of Goose Creek, S.C, Ted and Marie Allen of Dawsonville and the late R.J. and Roseanna Pilcher.

She is a 2001 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2005 from Brenau University in Gainesville with a bachelor's degree in history/political science. She is pursuing a doctorate of jurisprudence degree at John Marshall Law School in Atlanta. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta, a student member of the American Bar Association and a student member of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Enid Dobanton of Riverside, Calif., the late David Dobanton, Rolando and Senda Buchhamer and Einga and Miguel Devita, all of Libertador San Martin, Argentina.

He is a 1999 graduate of New Cuyama Valley High School in New Cuyama, Calif. He graduated in 2005 from Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins with an associate degree in radiologic science. He received a certificate at Coosa Valley Technical College in Rome in radiation therapy. He is employed as a radiation therapist with Atlanta Oncology Associates in Macon.

The couple plan to wed August 2009.
