Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Eugene Martin of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Callie Elizabeth Martin to Mr. Brian Thomas Hughs, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Johnson Hughs of Gainesville and the late Mrs. Monica Trapani Hughs.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Billy James Martin of Gainesville, the late Mr. Billy James Martin, Mrs. William Gene Reeves of Gainesville, the late Mr. William Gene Reeves and the late Mr. Jerry Wade Sutherland.

She is a 2005 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2008 from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala., with a bachelor's degree in human development and family studies. She is employed by Jake Martin and Son Contractors Inc. in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Edwin Fennell Hughs Jr. of Gainesville, the late Mr. Edwin Fennell Hughs Jr., Mr. Thomas Anthony Trapani of Savannah, the late Mrs. Thomas Anthony Trapani, Mrs. Forrest DeFate Sanders Jr. of Columbia, S.C., and the late Mr. Forrest DeFate Sanders Jr.

He is a 2004 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2008 from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in finance. He is employed as a commercial realtor with The Simpson Company in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 9, 2010, at Gainesville First United Methodist Church in Gainesville.
