Mr. Donald and Mrs. Kathy Hunt of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Rebekah Jo Hunt to Mr. John Clifford Barnette Jr., son of Mr. John C. Barnette Sr. and Mrs. Candi Barnette of Watkinsville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ms. Mildred Sosby of Toccoa, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunt of Washington, Ga.

She is a 2007 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2011 from University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in communicative sciences disorders. She is employed at Athens Vascular Surgery in Athens.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Gordon Jones and the late Mr. Gordon Jones of Tucker, and Mrs. John Barnette and the late Mr. John Barnette of Athens.

He is a 2002 graduate of Oconee County High School in Watkinsville. He graduated in 2006 from Georgia College and State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He received a master’s degree at Georgia College and State University in public administration. He is employed by Chick-fil-A in Athens.

The couple plan to wed March 10, 2012, at Watkinsville First Baptist Church in Watkinsville.
