Mr. and Mrs. William Argyle Haley IV of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Kathryn Sherrill Haley to Mr. John Brundred Murray, son of Mrs. Langhorne King Murray of Earlysville, Va., and the late Dr. Latham Brundred Murray.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lawrence Thompson of Grand Cayman Island, Cayman Islands, Mrs. Martha J. Haley of Lexington, Va., the late Mr. William Argyle Haley III and the late Mr. Lewis Monroe Wade.

She is a 2001 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2005 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She received a master’s degree in public policy at the University of Denver in Denver, Colo., in 2010.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Jack Fredrick King of Columbus, the late Mr. Jack Fredrick King, and Mr. and Mrs. James Brady Murray of Earlysville.

He is a 2001 graduate of Albermarle High School in Charlotteville. He graduated in 2005 from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., with a bachelor’s degree in American history. He is employed with NBC in Charlottesville.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 2, 2010, in Gainesville.
