Mr. and Mrs. Roger Benjamin Riddick Jr. of Kinston, N.C., announce the engagement of their daughter Meredith Ann Carter to William Daniel Palmer IV, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Daniel Palmer III of Camilla.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Otis Herman Carter of Raleigh, N.C., and the late Mr. Otis Herman Carter, the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ray Turner, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger Benjamin Riddick Sr.

She is a 2000 graduate of Kinston High School in Kinston. She graduated in 2004 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C., with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She received a master’s degree at the University of Georgia in Athens in social work. She is currently pursuing her clinical licensure in social work. She is employed as a school-based mental health counselor in Gainesville. She is member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Daniel Palmer Jr. of Camilla and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Grantham.

He is a 1994 graduate of Westwood School in Camilla. He graduated in 1998 from Mercer University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and in 2000 with a master’s degree in business management. In May 2008 he will graduate from the Georgia Banker’s Association’s Georgia Banking School in Athens. He is employed as a vice president and branch manager with The Peoples Bank in Braselton. He is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

The couple plans to wed April 5, 2008, at Gainesville First United Methodist Church Chapel in Gainesville.
