Angela Kay Blackstock of Gainesville announces the engagement of her daughter Mary Emily Carmon to Sean Lee McConnell, son of David Arnold and Anita Jarrett McConnell of Atlanta.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Coleen Howard of Gainesville and the late William R. Howard.
She is a 2000 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She attended Gainesville College. She is employed as a public relations manager with 2 Dog Restaurant in Gainesville. She is a member of the advisory committee for the John Jarrard concert and a volunteer for North Georgia AIDS Alliance and Georgia Mountain Food Bank.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Laura Virginia Shead of Atlanta, the late William Hobert McConnell, the late Foster Lee Jarrett and the late Jean Jarrett.

He is a 1987 graduate of Forest Park Senior High School in Forest Park. He is employed as a real estate professional with Prudential Georgia Realty in Gainesville. He is a volunteer for Georgia Mountain Food Bank and the John Jarrard concert and is an active member of Riverbend Baptist Church in Gainesville.

The couple plans to wed Oct. 11, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
