Michael and Martha Cain of Clermont announce the engagement of their daughter Julia Ellen Cain to Michael David Sayegh, son of Judith Sayegh of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Paul and Trudy Sayegh of Staten Island, N.Y.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of R.S. and Barbara Meroney of Thibodaux, La., and the late James and Elaine Cain.

She is a 2000 graduate of the American School in Japan in Tokyo. She graduated in 2004 from Emory University in Atlanta with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. She is a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Stanley and Mary Zadrozny and the late George and Mary Sayegh.

He is a 1999 graduate of Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated in 2003 from Emory University in Atlanta with a bachelor's degree in economics. He received a doctorate of jurisprudence from Mercer Law School in Macon. He is employed as an attorney with Morris, Manning and Martin in Atlanta.

The couple plan to wed Jan. 3, 2009, at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro.
