Tom and Maria Bower of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Shirley Caroline Bower to Benjamin Andrew Filchak, son of Scott and Karen Filchak of Gainesville. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Shirley Bower of Gainesville and the late T.L. Bower II, and the late Jack and Hazel Spence. She is a 2006 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville.
