Lanier Hills Church will have a plane fly over on Saturday, dropping thousands of Easter eggs for the church's annual egg hunt.

Youth minister Jerry Coffee said he had an idea to add "pizzazz" to the egg hunt this year.

"We're gonna have an airplane fly over and drop about 1,500 to 2,000 eggs," Coffee said. "So we've just been telling the kids ‘thousands of eggs will fall out of the sky.'"

The eggs are set to drop around 2:30 p.m. for the children; food and refreshments will follow.

"The pilot is building a hopper to load the eggs in," Coffee said. "The age group is from birth to fifth-graders and we do have prizes ... gift certificates from Game Stop, a clown.

"The plane will drop the eggs safely. ... The kids won't be in the area until the plane flies over."

Coffee added that volunteers stuffed 3,000 to 4,000 plastic eggs; the community is welcome to the event.
