Stan and Brenda McDonald of Gainesville celebrated their 50th anniversary on April 18, 2009. A reception given by their children was held in their honor at the Courtyard Garden of the Holiday Inn Lanier Centre Hotel in Gainesville after the couple's renewal of their vows.

The couple have five children and seven grandchildren.
