Wolf Moon String Band to set toe-tapping beat

A collection of multitalented musicians with a combined musical experience of more than 160 years will entertain the contra dance audience during its monthly meeting Saturday in Sautee Nacoochee.

The Wolf Moon String Band formed on the first moon of the New Year, the wolf moon, several years ago. Band members include Marshall Goers and Amy Buckingham on fiddles, Lucy Allen on guitar and Bob Buckingham on banjo and mandolin.

The 7:30-11 p.m. performance March 29 is a return engagement for the band, which played at Sautee Nacoochee in spring 2013. The Buckinghams also have played several times with their own bands.

To complete the fun of the evening, David Kaynor will be the caller for dancers. Kaynor, of Massachusetts, has been on the national contra dance scene for many years as a musician and caller. He is a regular at the John C. Campbell Folk School where he heads up dance musicians week and teaches fiddle classes.

Admission is $9 for nonmembers and $7 for SNCA members. Students receive a $5 discount. Youth 12 and younger are free.
