According to the book of 1 Samuel 17, a young shepherd boy named David fought a Philistine man named Goliath, killing him with sling and a stone. That same young boy was later named king of the Israelites.
Now, his story will be told by the Voices of North Georgia with special performances of the 20th-century dramatic oratorio, “Le Roi David,” from French composer Arthur Honegger.
This presentation will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29, at St. Paul United Methodist Church at 404 Washington St. NW in Gainesville. It will feature choral, vocal solo and orchestral music.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and $5 for children younger than 11 years old. Tickets may be purchased by calling 678-591-1545, visiting www.voicesofnorthgeorgia.com or at the door prior to the performance.
