ATHENS — Music from the Emerald Isle will fill Hodgson Hall when the UGA Performing Arts Center presents Danú in concert at 8 p.m. Friday.

Hailed by the Irish Times as "a spirit-raising concoction," Danú has won both the BBC and Irish Music Magazine Awards for its high-energy performances of authentic Irish music.

The group uses traditional Irish instruments: flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion, bouzouki, uilleann pipes, along with Irish and English vocals.

Its standing-room-only concerts throughout Ireland and around the globe feature a mix of ancient Irish music and new repertoire.

The ensemble has recorded seven critically acclaimed albums and has toured throughout Europe and North America with stops at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and Symphony Space in New York City, in addition to concerts in India and Israel.
