Retired Air Force colonel and musicians join forces
Northwinds Symphonic Band to play 'Classics ... and More'
Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Lowell Graham

Rhythmic classic sounds will rain down on Gainesville as the Northwinds Symphonic Band presents a concert featuring retired U.S. Air Force Col. Lowell Graham.

The concert “Classics…and More” will be 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28, in the Pearce Auditorium on the Brenau University campus in downtown Gainesville.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $5 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door the evening of the performance at 500 Washington St. NW, Gainesville.

Graham will conduct Hector Berlioz’s “Roman Carnival” and Robert Russell Bennett’s “Symphonic Songs for Band” as well as the march, “Brooke’s Chicago Marine Band,”

Graham was the highest-ranking musician in the Department of Defense upon his retirement and actively conducts throughout the United States. And this is not his first visit to Georgia as he has conducted the Georgia All State Band and Ninth District Honor Band in previous years.

Assisting in the performance will be Northwinds conductor Mercer Crook as well as associate conductors Elden Moates and Vicki Pinson.
