Big scares for big people and innocent fun for little ones will be conjured up by carnies, clowns and fortune tellers at the Carnival of Screams haunted house from 6:45 to midnight Oct. 28 at Piedmont College's Lane Student Center in Demorest.
The witching evening begins with "Good Fairy Tours" when young children can be escorted through the haunted house with their parents and meet the haunted house characters without being frightened.
"There is no intentional scaring during the Good Fairy Tours," said Sean Maguire, director of the The Piedmont College Campus Activities Board. "We feel like these tours show the younger kids that Halloween is celebrated by people of all ages."
The real screams begin at 8:10 p.m. when those who enter the haunted house will experience a night of scary surprises until midnight.
Throughout the evening, the campus quad will be filled with family-oriented games and booths, inflatables and face painting for children. If there is inclement weather, games and booths will be moved to the Nielsen Dining Hall.
The event is free and open to the community. The Lane Student Center is on the campus quad with parking available at the main entrance. Drivers are urged to proceed carefully.
