North Ga. art seniors display their work
Jessica Locklar
Jessica Locklar's "First Breath," oil on found decor, is one of the pieces on display at the senior art exhibition at North Georgia College & State University.

The North Georgia College & State University Seniors' Art Exhibition, Series I, will be in view through Nov. 3 at the campus Library & Technology Center in Dahlonega.

A reception is set for 5-6:30 tonight in the Library Lobby. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

The exhibition presents artworks by NGCSU graduating seniors majoring in Studio Art, Art Marketing and Art Education. Seniors represented are Ethan Abercrombie, Lisa Ertmer, Ashton Fobes, Rachelle Hogsed, Ethan Hopkins, Kaitlyn Klucznik, Esther LaFon, Jessica Locklar, Bethany Mangum, Katrina Paul, Anna Pickett, Jordan Rowland, and Nathan Skinner.

Several have already earned awards and merits for their work, both at NGCSU and beyond. In preparation for this exhibition, they were supervised by Assistant Professor of Art Craig Wilson.

At the Department of Visual Arts, NGCSU, students begin their degree programs with six foundation courses in studio art and art history. After an evaluation of their foundation portfolio by the faculty, they continue in advanced courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, textile design, graphic design, ceramics, printmaking, weaving, film, art history and visual literacy. In their senior year, they complete and exhibit a body of work that expresses the sum of their interests and learning experiences.
