The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will present "Celebrating Georgia with Chuck Leavell and Friends" — a concert honoring Georgia’s musical legacy — at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.
Leavell, who has won a Grammy™ Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with the Allman Brothers Band and is a member of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, will be joined by special guests Gregg Allman, Jimmy Hall, Robert McDuffie, Randall Bramblett Band, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jacomo Bairos.
The performance will pay tribute to Georgia music and will include a special homage to Georgia’s own Otis Redding.
"This concert will be a unique and fun celebration of a wide variety of music — from blues to rock and soul to a violin virtuoso, we will be covering it all," said Leavell. "And with good friends and very special guests Gregg Allman, Randall Bramblett, Robert McDuffie, Jimmy Hall, and the great Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, it promises to be one for the ages."
