As spring blooms and summer weather slowly sneaks into Hall County, Lanier Islands is ready to open its beach, boardwalk and water park entertainment district May 21.
The newest element in the resort area is the 50-foot-by-80-foot high-definition digital spectacular screen. Lanier Islands will regularly show music videos, cartoon shorts and full-length feature films throughout the summer on it. And LanierWorld patrons can boat up to the docks or gather on the sand in this lakeside homage to the drive-in theaters of yesteryear.
“To give you some perspective as to its size, the typical drive-in movie screen was just 65 feet by 33 feet,” Lanier Islands marketing director Cindy Wahl said in a news release. “Based on the response we’ve received to date, we have no doubt that this latest addition to our landscape will be a big hit with guests.”
She explained the state-of-the-art ultrabright outdoor theater screen is visible on even the sunniest days.
“And (it) really lights up the night as families wind down on the beach following a day spent running around the park,” Wahl said. “They can pick up a pizza ... and sit in a cluster of lounge chairs while taking in a show for an entirely fun, new family tradition.”
Other points of interests at the resort are the CAT 4 Tube Slide, the Thunderbolt Triple Zipline and the newest game Battle Ball. In the new game, participants don one of 16 inflatable life-size sphere and attempt to run, bounce and roll their way to victory. Battle Ball participants must be taller than 52 inches and weigh between 75 and 230 pounds with a waistline less than 40 inches. Games rotate every 15 minutes.
Other standard favorites at LanierWorld include the waterslides and the wave pool.
