In 1964, television viewers were introduced to Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday and Pugsley Addams along with Uncle Fester, Lurch, Grandmama, The Thing and Cousin Itt.

The popular series then hit the silver screen in not one but two feature films with “The Addams Family” and “Addams Family Values” in the early 1990s.

Now, the unusually family has been transformed into a musical version and will hit the stage at Johnson High School in Gainesville.

In this latest incarnation, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met.

If that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia.

Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Showtimes at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sundays, March 17-19 and 24-26, in Johnson High School Performing Arts Center, 3305 Poplar Springs Road, Gainesville.

Tickets are $5 for students and senior citizens and $7 for adults. Tickets may be purchased at www.showtix4u.com.
