The parables Jesus Christ used to teach his disciples about God’s love for them are coming to life with a little musical accompaniment in Gainesville Theatre Alliance’s production of “Godspell.”

Based on the Gospel of Matthew, the show puts Jesus’ life and his parables to songs from the 1970s.

The show’s director described it as episodic, classic parables from the Bible with a contemporary feel.
