The Arts Council in Gainesville will present "A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline" as part of its Arts Council Pearce Series Thursday at Brenau University's Hosch Theatre.

The show stars Gainesville's Katie Deal as legendary country entertainer Patsy Cline, tracing the late singer's rise from her Virginia hometown to the Grand Ole Opry, Las Vegas and Carnegie Hall.

Cline's hits in the 1950s and early '60s included "Walkin' After Midnight," "Sweet Dreams," "I Fall to Pieces," "Crazy," "She's Got You," "Seven Lonely Days" and the title song, "A Closer Walk with Thee."

The Pearce series will continue in March with Neil Berg's "100 Years of Broadway" on March 15.
